“I’m not just f’n pretty, I’m pretty f’n dangerous”…Zema Ion

Zema Ion (Michael Paris) is a Filipino American wrestler currently signed to TNA Wrestling. He made his debut at Impact wrestling on June 23, 2011 working under the ring name Zema Ion. Claiming at a young age he dreams of becoming a pro wrestler or a rock star. Learning that playing guitar is not his strong point, he decided to pursue wrestling by searching for a wrestling school at the age of 16. Paris trained in 2003 at the Coalition of Competition in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania under trainers Super Hentai, Shirley Doe, and Glenn Spectre. After his 14 months training he debuted as Shiima Xion – the “first Filipino male model of wrestling” on August 21, 2004 against Jason Gory in Wheeling, West Virginia

He competed throughout West Virginia and Ohio in the fall of 2004 , since he was not old enough to compete in the state of Pennsylvania.  After turning 18, however, Xion began competing regularly for the International Wrestling Cartel, as well as making appearances in Chikara, Far North Wrestling, and Pro Wrestling Unplugged.

The Shiima Xion character later morphed to become more of a glam rock star than a male model in early 2006.  He then began wearing make-up to the ring, and changed his hair color from black to red/blonde. His bizarre hair style soon became his trademark, with Shiima becoming best known for hairspraying his hair during matches. This character eventually caught the attention of Japanese wrestling promoter wholater who invited the then 19-year old Shiima to tour Japan with his company, Dramatic Dream Team (DDT) in the summer of 2006.

Prior to his TNA tenure, Zema works in various Independent circuits in the ensuing year.

With his trademark anime’ inspired hair styles and a cocky persona, reminiscent of early Shawn Michaels/Rick “the Model” Martell gimmick, he quickly made his presence felt on the Impact Zone and would later went on to capture the X-Division championship in 2011. Together with another TNA Star, T.J. Perkins – working under the mask as “Manik” the recently reborn Suicide, Filipino wrestling fans could be proud that among the very best in the X-Division roster, two of them are proud to have a Pinoy blood and is hanging out with the best talents TNA has to offer.
